Charles Christiansen was most recently the chef & owner of The Plant Deli, handcrafted vegan meats & cheeses. Before he became a vegan in early 2016, he spent his summers as a competition barbecue chef, traveling throughout New England on weekends and occasionally even winning trophies with his team. Since converting to a vegan lifestyle, he’s been dedicated to bringing the flavors & techniques of his Southern roots and his barbecue competition days into the vegan food sphere.
In addition to running all aspects of The Plant Deli, Charles worked as a volunteer assistant tour guide at Maple Farm Sanctuary, a non-profit farmed animal sanctuary in Mendon, MA. He lives in Melrose with his wife and an excessive number of cats (4, to be precise), all of whom he loves dearly.
